Modo di Bere TV on the air—with your help! 🗣️🍷
Introducing Wine Doc Face Off, a crowdfunding tournament where YOU decide which season of Modo di Bere TV will air first.
“You’ve filmed EIGHT SEASONS?” His jaw dropped.
My friend Bryan used to work in TV. When I hired him to consult on digital strategy for the Wine Doc Face Off Campaign, his reaction was a ping of validation:
Yes, we did do that.
Yes, Emilia and I have filmed 8 seasons of Modo di Bere TV on 3 continents.
Now we’re crowdfunding for post-production: paying artists, musicians and editors to turn our footage into 30+ episodes of a wine and language travel show that revels in local culture.
It’s time to air this astonishing show!

WINE DOC FACE OFF
Here’s what makes this the most delicious crowd campaign ever.
We’re hosting a tournament to decide which season of Modo di Bere TV will air first, with a new head-to-head-matchup every week through April 3.
Each week, you’ll have until Saturday morning at 11:59 (New York time) to vote on which season you like best.
To vote, click the “Donate” button at mododibere.com and follow the instructions.
Follow along as we publish new content across our platforms celebrating all the cool regions from the show.
Spread the word!
Hit the paper plane on your favorite posts. Text your favorite trailers to your mom, your cool cousin, your dentist who loves wine!
This week’s match:
TEXAS vs CALABRIA
NOTE: If you’ve been following our launch on social media, we have said a few places that the first contest ends this Saturday: BUT. After considering the calendar, we’re going to give Texas and Calabria an extra week to cook.
That means the Texas vs. Calabria Matchup will run until Saturday Feb 21, when the season with fewer votes will be eliminated from the chance to become Season One.
We’ve already posted the Texas and Calabria trailers online and held a couple of fun livestreams.
More content will roll out across the Modo-verse over the next week, in celebration of these two fantastic regions.
If this is the first time you’re hearing about the campaign, these trailers are a great place to start. They look so beautiful and bring back so many memories!

At 11:59 am ET on Saturday, Feb 21, the season with fewer votes will be eliminated!
….and we’ll introduce the next two seasons to go head to head in WINE DOC FACE OFF.
If you’re ready to throw your weight behind Calabria or Texas, you know what to do!
This podcast season=pure adventure
I’ve always made the occasional adventure story part of the Modo di Bere podcast.
I’ve documented solo travel moments, from driving trippy mountain roads in Spain late at night to eating raw shrimp in Venice to the spitting tutorial that will let you attend a wine fair without getting carried out on a stretcher.
Season 5 of the podcast is all adventure, all day, and this time, I’m not alone:
Emilia Aghamirzai. the co-director and DP for Modo di Bere TV, joins me as my cohost for season 5!
We have so much fun traveling together, and we can’t wait to bring you along behind the scenes. ❤️

I can’t even remember which boat this was right now! Lagos? Venice?

We drank sparkling wine in a castle. We guzzled the world’s finest prosciutto. We arm-wrestled innkeepers, we learned the local slang. We messed up basic Italian and accidentally brushed our teeth with denture cream.
This campaign is just getting started, but my heart is already so full, as I think about all the people who have come together to get this show filmed.
The winemakers and speakers of local dialects who taught us about their culture on camera, for three years, all over the world.
The force that is Giulia Àlvarez Katz, video editor and creative powerhouse.
Michele Thomas, aka Bed-Stuy Somm, who edits Modo di Bere Magazine.
Contributors, crew, designers, engineers.
My immensely supportive sweetheart.
And everyone whose enthusiasm and support has kept Modo di Bere going for three whole years.
You got us where we are now, full of footage and ready to raise the support we need to finish the show, so that everyone can experience the adventure of Modo di Bere TV.
